Our Trustees


Paul Tebbutt (Chair)
With over 30 years of teaching experience, Paul is a Suffolk Primary School Headteacher who has been very involved with child protection throughout his career.

His particular interest is Science, and when not busy in school he enjoys breeding dogs and is a keen Nottingham Forest supporter.
  
Nigel Farthing
Nigel Farthing is a solicitor and partner in the firm Birketts LLP. He was born, brought up and educated in Suffolk. He is married with two children.
  
Tim Beach
With a highly qualified and experienced background of police work, including public protection; Tim is an Independent Chair of a local Safeguarding Children Board. For pleasure, he enjoys looking after a small holding and running marathons, including the New York marathon last year.
  
Catherine Forsdike
Catherine is an assistant principal and the lead person for child protection at Suffolk New College. She has been involved with further education for 6 years. Catherine enjoys singing and working on restoring her Victorian house in her spare time.
  
Jim Keohane
Jim trained at London School of Economics where he graduated in Economics in 1970. He had a 30 year career in the energy industry and worked in several parts of the UK, including an 11 year stint in Scotland. Immediately before his retirement he was a Director at Eastern Electricity, based in Ipswich. Jim retains a number of business interests.

Jim is married to Carol who is a homemaker and is heavily involved in fundraising for the NSPCC. They live in Lavenham. Jim's interests include gardening, travel, sport, current affairs and the theatre.
  
Her Hon Judge Caroline Ludlow
Her Hon Judge Caroline Ludlow has lived and worked in Suffolk for 30 years. Besides being a trustee for SAFEchild, she is a trustee of Pact and also chairs the trustees of the Children's Legal Centre based at the University of Essex.

When not presiding in court, Caroline enjoys catching up with friends and is also the very proud owner of a bassett hound called Maddy.
  
Bud Simpkin
A qualified youth worker, with over 30 years experience of working in a wide range of settings; Bud Simpkin is the Chief Executive of Young Suffolk, the only countywide umbrella organisation specifically supporting the voluntary children and young people's sector in Suffolk.

He completed his PhD in 2004 by developing a unique method of young people evaluating for themselves the extent of their genuine engagement and participation in youth projects. Bud is a member of the Suffolk Children's Trust Executive and the Suffolk Safeguarding Children Board.

  
His Hon Judge Peter Thompson
Peter Thompson is a Circuit Judge. Before his appointment as a judge in 1998 he spent almost 30 years in private practice as a solicitor in London, Australia and Ipswich. As a solicitor, he represented children and parents in a wide range of court cases.

As a Judge, he deals with many childcare and private law disputes. He has also been a law lecturer, Chair of Relate in Suffolk, President of the Suffolk and North Essex Law Society and (long ago) a part-time professional football player.
